There are two main uses for window blinds. The first is obviously privacy - and effective way to keep out prying eyes. However they were originally developed in ancient Egypt to block out the sun and reduce the heat coming into the buildings. These blinds were created from reeds. Roman blinds were invented in Italy . Many types of blind are much easier to clean than curtains as they can be wiped with a damp cloth, but it is very important that you check the manufacturer's guidelines as this will not be true of all.

When cleaning your venetian blinds it is always a good idea to check the manufacturer's instructions. But we recommend that you clean them every week to avoid a serious build-up of dirt that's harder to remove. A damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirty finger marks (even sticky ones), and sometimes it's easier to clean them all when they are closed and flat. Whether you are looking for venetian blinds, velux blinds, roller blinds, roman blinds or... well any type of blind... we think we can help transform your home in HD4.

If you have children, the safest products are cordless or those with concealed cords which allow you manually move the blind around. Tensioned cords can achieve the same effect. These days you can even buy motorised blinds for wooden shutters and external blinds to ease the operation, especially if the householder has restricted movement.
