Generally the best set up for window blinds is to control them (ie open and close them) with a cord. However these days you can set them up to be electronically controlled either directly from the wall or remotely - just in case they are not easy to access. Roman blinds were invented in Italy . In some houses blinds are used instead of curtains, often in loft extensions or conservatories. In a loft extension you might expect the blinds to be Velux, and in a conservatory, more likely to be Roman blinds.

There are many tips for cleaning venetian window blinds but it's never a bad idea to check with the manufacturer who will know exactly the best approach. A damp cloth or sponge is usually the best answer to finger marks, and a quick vaccuum every week will keep them from collecting too much dust! Whatever type of blind you require, our partners can probably supply it not just to the colour and style you require, but often made to measure and delivered to IP16.

If your blinds have a cord or chain with a loop, please ensure that this is out of reach of any children who may accidentally get caught up and injur themselves. Professional fitters are now obliged by law to restrict the length of cords and chains for this very reason. Don't forget to make sure you accurately measure your windows so that the blinds fit! We know it can be confusing sometimes when working with both cm and inches, and you wont be the first person to make that mistake if it happens.
